Anne Gramkow
Anne Gramkow, a first year teacher at Treynor, spoke about her teaching and sports experiences at Treynor. She teaches life sciences, advanced biology, and other subjects. She also assists with freshmen girls’ basketball, weightlifting, throwing for track, and is an umpire for girls’ softball. She currently holds the fourth place honors in Western Iowa high school all-time girls track for the discus.
Anne is working on her Master’s degree from Doane College. She likes teaching in middle school and embraces the concept of making a community with your classroom. Therefore, students work at tables in her room and need to ask questions of team members before asking her.
This year the weightlifting girls earned second place in a weightlifting competition. Weightlifting will help girls build tone to their muscles. It also makes them better at rebounding and shooting in basketball.
For life sciences she has major projects in the human body, an insect project, and studying tree leaves. They also dissect a field pig.
